In Miami that is the first thing to pin down, because a "Miami, FL" mailing address can sit inside the City of Miami, inside unincorporated Miami-Dade County, or inside a neighboring municipality that runs its own process. Sorting this out early usually decides your date, not your menu.

It depends on the property and on which jurisdiction the address actually falls under. A Miami mailing address can sit inside the City of Miami, inside unincorporated Miami-Dade County or inside another municipality, and each one runs its own process. The City of Miami publishes special-event permit instructions and notes that, depending on the nature and scope of an event, City services such as Police, Fire Rescue, Solid Waste and Parks may have to be hired, and that a site plan is part of the review. Applications for events in the Coconut Grove and Little Havana Special Events District are directed to be submitted at least 120 days before the event date. Confirm your specific event and address with the jurisdiction that governs it. VNV Events does not apply for or guarantee permits.
Check the rules of the specific park first. City of Miami Parks requires a permit for organized activities that use a public park or reserve a specific area within one, applications are directed to be submitted well ahead of the date, and applicants may be asked to attend the department's monthly special events meeting. At Miami-Dade County parks, only registered party vendors are admitted for parties at picnic shelters, pavilions and cabanas, the County asks for an Event Proposal Overview that is reviewed within five business days before the special-event application is issued, and tents 10 feet by 12 feet or larger require a Short Term Event permit. Confirm vendor admission and permit requirements with the park before you commit to a date or a guest count.

A covered cooking area, a safe power source close to the station and a clear load-in path from the vehicle to the setup point. In Miami that usually also means the building's loading dock and freight elevator windows, any certificate of insurance or vendor approval the condo association or venue requires, and a covered fallback position for rain. Exact power and placement requirements are confirmed with your venue before the proposal is finalized rather than assumed.
