The experience

Cooking in the room, not behind a service door

A crepe station changes the shape of an event. Instead of a tray that arrives finished, guests walk up, choose a direction and watch the crepe come off the griddle, which keeps people moving and gives the room a focal point during the slower stretch after speeches. This page covers the Plantation-specific side of the setup; the full service overview lives on the South Florida crepe station page.

Plantation planning

City review, facility rentals and the questions to settle first

In Plantation, the approvals and the room usually decide the date before the menu does. Two separate tracks matter for a live cooking station: the City's special-event review, and whatever your specific venue requires from an outside caterer.

Service area focus: Plantation, Florida. This map identifies the city only and does not represent a VNV Events office or address.

City of Plantation special-event review

  • The Administration Department coordinates Special Event requests, which require approval by City Administration and are reviewed case by case.
  • The City states that all applications must be received 5 business days in advance for processing.
  • Separate applications cover categories such as residential block or street parties, promotional events and Parks & Recreation special events within City parks, and the City notes its list is not all inclusive.
  • Read the current requirements on the City of Plantation Special Event Request page and confirm your specific event with the City before you set a date.

City facilities and park rentals

  • City facilities such as the Volunteer Park Banquet Hall, Central Park, the Jim Ward Community Center, the Plantation Community Center and Deicke Auditorium are rented through Parks & Recreation, on a track separate from special-event review.
  • The City's Parks & Recreation FAQ notes that serving alcohol requires a City waiver completed and notarized by the permit holder, with paperwork due at least 30 days before the event, that service after 9:00 pm also requires a City of Plantation police officer hired at the renter's expense, and that the function would need to end by 11:00 pm to allow an hour of cleanup.
  • Those rules shape when a dessert station can realistically run, so settle the end time before the timeline is built.
  • Rental details are on the City of Plantation facility rentals page, and the Parks & Recreation FAQ covers reservations and waivers.

VNV Events does not apply for, obtain or guarantee permits, approvals or waivers. Permitting and venue approvals are the responsibility of the host, the venue or your planner. We will give you the setup details you need to answer the City's or the facility's questions accurately.

Site logistics

What a live station needs from your Plantation venue

A crepe station is hot cooking equipment placed where guests stand, so a short walkthrough settles most of it before anyone signs anything.

Seven things to confirm

  • Covered cooking area. Interior room, covered terrace or a tent. Uncovered placement is the most common reason a station has to move on the day.
  • Power and access. Identify the nearest usable power source and how far it sits from the station. We confirm the actual requirement with your venue instead of assuming what a circuit can carry.
  • Outside-caterer approval. Whether it is a City facility, an HOA clubhouse or an office building, ask what documentation and vendor approval the venue requires for an outside caterer running a live cooking station.
  • Load-in path. Gate or security notification, parking distance, elevators, stairs and door widths between the vehicle and the station.
  • Guest flow. Place the queue so it does not cut across the bar, the dance floor or a main walkway.
  • Service window. The two hours of live preparation can run as a late dessert moment or as part of the meal. Pick one before the timeline is built, and check it against any facility end time that applies to your rental.
  • Weather contingency. Broward heat and afternoon rain both matter. Decide the indoor or covered fallback position in advance.

Choices that make the station feel personal

Sweet direction

Build the three sweet fillings around fruit, chocolate and cream for a dessert-forward moment late in the event.

Savory direction

Use the three savory fillings so the station carries part of the meal rather than sitting at the end of it.

Event styling

Coordinate the buffet presentation with the colors and atmosphere of the celebration and the room you have rented.

Questions

Before you reserve in Plantation

How much does a VNV crepe station cost in Plantation?

The current published base price is $19 per guest with a 25-guest minimum. Delivery, taxes, upgrades, availability, venue requirements and final menu selections are confirmed in your written proposal.

Does our Plantation event need City approval?

It depends on the property and the setup. The City of Plantation Administration Department coordinates Special Event requests, which require approval by City Administration and are reviewed case by case, and the City states that all applications must be received 5 business days in advance for processing. Separate applications cover categories such as residential block or street parties, promotional events and Parks & Recreation special events within City parks, and the City notes that its list is not all inclusive. Confirm your specific event directly with the City. VNV Events does not apply for or guarantee permits or approvals.

Can the crepe station be set up at Volunteer Park Banquet Hall or another City of Plantation facility?

City facilities including the Volunteer Park Banquet Hall, Central Park, the Jim Ward Community Center, the Plantation Community Center and Deicke Auditorium are rented through Parks & Recreation, and the City publishes its rental information and contacts on its facility rentals page. Ask facility management what it requires from an outside caterer for a live cooking station before you commit to a date, because rental approval and outside-vendor approval are separate questions.

Are the crepes really made at the event?

Yes. The package includes two hours of live-chef preparation on-site, with sweet and savory crepes made in front of guests and served from a styled buffet.

What does the station need from our Plantation venue?

A covered cooking area, a safe power source close to the station and a clear load-in path from parking. Exact power and placement requirements are confirmed with your venue before the proposal is finalized rather than assumed.
