It depends on where you are hosting and what the setup affects. The City of South Miami treats an event or activity that temporarily occurs on public or private property and affects the ordinary use of a park, public street, right-of-way or sidewalk as a special event. Applications for events on city property or requiring city services must be submitted at least 60 days before the event date, and applications submitted less than 30 days out are not accepted. Tents and other temporary structures may require separate building permits at the applicant's cost. Confirm your specific event directly with the City. VNV Events does not apply for or guarantee permits.
Pavilions at Dante Fascell Park are rented through the City of South Miami Parks and Recreation Department, and the application for facility use must be received at least 14 days before the event. The City's rental application lists an occupancy limit of 30 people per pavilion at Dante Fascell Park, lists pavilion rental availability as 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and states that equipment must be delivered and removed within the rental period with no storage available. Confirm the reservation and the setup with Parks and Recreation before you commit to a date.
