The experience

A cooking station guests gather around

On a large-lot property the food usually has to pull people together, because the space itself does not. A crepe station does that: guests choose a direction, the chef cooks it in front of them, and the queue becomes part of the party instead of a line to endure. This page covers the Southwest Ranches side of that setup; the full service overview lives on the South Florida crepe station page.

Southwest Ranches planning

Zoning, Town parks and the questions to settle first

Southwest Ranches is a rural, equestrian-oriented town, and the rules that shape an event here are written around land use and property rather than street closures. Sorting them out early usually decides your date, not your menu.

Service area focus: Southwest Ranches, Florida. This map identifies the city only. It does not represent a VNV Events office, address or place of business.

Town permits and the Unified Land Development Code

  • The Town's Unified Land Development Code covers outdoor event permits in Article 35, Section 035-040, and indoor and outdoor assembly in rural and agricultural districts in Section 035-080.
  • Because much of Southwest Ranches sits in rural and agricultural districts, whether your gathering falls under either provision depends on the property, its zoning and the size of the event.
  • Settle that question before you set a guest count, since it can change where a cooking station is allowed to sit.
  • Read the current code through the Town of Southwest Ranches Code of Ordinances and confirm your specific event with Zoning and Permitting.

Town park facilities

  • Facilities available for rental include a small picnic shelter at Country Estates Park, two indoor spaces at Rolling Oaks Park, and a large picnic shelter with a grill plus equestrian rings at Sunshine Ranches Equestrian Park.
  • Reservations must be completed at least three weeks in advance, and all required documentation has to be submitted before the reservation is finalized.
  • The Rolling Oaks Park policy requires food and other vendors to be named on the rental application with a certificate of insurance, prohibits open flames inside the building, permits tents and other temporary event furnishings only for approved permit holders in areas the Town designates, and limits caterer delivery and pickup to your rental window.
  • Start with the Town park facilities rental page and the Rolling Oaks Park policy, then confirm the setup with Town Parks staff.

VNV Events does not apply for, obtain or guarantee permits, reservations or approvals. Permitting is the responsibility of the host, the property owner or your planner. What we will do is give you accurate setup details — equipment, footprint, power and vendor documentation — so you can answer the Town's or the venue's questions correctly the first time.

Site logistics

What a live station needs from a Southwest Ranches property

A crepe station is hot cooking equipment placed in a guest-facing spot. On acreage, the answers change — distances get longer and the ground is rarely flat — so a short walkthrough resolves most of it before anyone signs anything.

Seven things to confirm

  • Covered cooking area. An indoor room, a covered pavilion or a tent. Uncovered placement is the most common reason a station has to move on the day. If the room you are renting does not allow open flames, the station belongs outside it.
  • Power and its distance. Identify the nearest usable power source and how far it sits from where you want the station. On a large lot that gap is the detail worth measuring. We confirm the actual requirement with your venue rather than assuming what a circuit or a generator can carry.
  • Load-in path. Gate access and any security notification, driveway length, where the vehicle can legally park, and the surface between that spot and the station. Grass, gravel and soft ground all change the setup.
  • Guest flow. Place the queue so it does not cut across the bar, the dance floor or a main walkway — and, on equestrian property, well away from horses and riders.
  • Service window. The two hours of live preparation can run as a late dessert moment or as part of the meal. Pick one before the timeline is built, and check it against any end-time rule the venue enforces.
  • Documentation. Ask what your venue, HOA or the Town requires from an outside caterer — vendor listing on an application, certificates of insurance, naming requirements — and when it is due, since some deadlines land weeks before the event.
  • Weather contingency. South Florida heat, wind and afternoon rain all matter to an open cooking surface. Decide the covered fallback position in advance.

Questions

Before you reserve in Southwest Ranches

How much does a VNV crepe station cost in Southwest Ranches?

The current published base price is $19 per guest with a 25-guest minimum. Delivery, taxes, upgrades, availability, venue requirements and final menu selections are confirmed in your written proposal.

Do we need a Town permit for an event with a live cooking station in Southwest Ranches?

It depends on the property, its zoning and the size of the gathering. The Town of Southwest Ranches Unified Land Development Code addresses outdoor event permits in Article 35, Section 035-040, and indoor and outdoor assembly in rural and agricultural districts in Section 035-080. Because so much of the Town is rural and agricultural, confirm your specific event with the Town's Zoning and Permitting department before you lock a date. VNV Events does not apply for, obtain or guarantee permits.

Can the crepe station be set up at a Town park facility such as Rolling Oaks Park?

Town park facility reservations must be completed at least three weeks in advance, with all required documentation submitted before the reservation is finalized. The Rolling Oaks Park policy requires food and other vendors to be listed on the rental application with a certificate of insurance, prohibits open flames inside the building, allows tents and other temporary event furnishings only for approved permit holders in areas the Town designates, and limits caterer delivery and pickup to the rental window. Review the current policy and confirm the setup with Town Parks staff.

Are the crepes really made at the event?

Yes. The package includes two hours of live-chef preparation on-site, with sweet and savory crepes made in front of guests and served from a styled buffet.

What does the station need from a Southwest Ranches property?

A covered cooking area, a safe power source close to the station and a clear load-in path from where the vehicle can park. On large ranch and estate lots the distance from the driveway to the station is usually the detail worth measuring first. Exact power and placement requirements are confirmed with your venue before the proposal is finalized rather than assumed.
