The experience

A station guests watch, customize and remember

Wilton Manors rooms tend to be intimate rather than cavernous, and a live crepe station suits that: it gives people a reason to get up, choose something and talk to the chef without needing a ballroom to do it. Each guest picks a direction while the crepe is made fresh on-site, which is why the station works as a dessert moment or as part of the meal. This page covers the Wilton Manors side of the setup; the full service overview lives on the South Florida crepe station page.

Wilton Manors planning

Applications, City facilities and the questions to settle first

Wilton Manors is a small, dense city, so the deciding factors are usually the application threshold, the facility calendar and where a cooking station is allowed to stand. Sorting those out early usually decides your date, not your menu.

Service area focus: Wilton Manors, Florida. This map identifies the city only and does not represent a VNV Events office or address.

Special Event Applications

  • The City requires a Special Event Application when an event meets two of the criteria it publishes, including events open or advertised to the general public and events that involve the sale of food, beverages, merchandise or services or charge admission.
  • The remaining criteria cover events that need two or more support services such as parking or traffic control, police special detail, emergency medical services, portable toilets or trash collection, and events that close public amenities to their normal use.
  • Filing deadlines and fees scale with expected attendance, starting at 15 days in advance for 100 people or fewer and 30 days for 101 to 250 people.
  • Where an application applies, the City's special events article also sets expectations for food service, including a list of food service vendors, a Broward County mobile business tax receipt where applicable, Florida health documentation, a certificate of insurance naming the City as additional insured filed no later than one week before the event, and a possible fire watch.
  • Read the current criteria, deadlines and fees on the City of Wilton Manors Special Event Applications page and the special events article of the City code, then confirm your specific event with the City.

Hagen Park and City amenity rentals

  • Leisure Services rents several City facilities, including Hagen Park Community Center, Island City Park Preserve, Richardson Historic Park, Mickel Park and the Island City Cultural Center, along with pavilions at several parks.
  • Hagen Park Community Center at 2020 Wilton Drive lists a 48' x 67' multi-purpose room that can be divided into two rooms, plus a full-service kitchen, tables and chairs.
  • The City lists a four-hour minimum for Friday, Saturday and Sunday rentals, reservations at least two weeks before the event, and a $250 security deposit due at the time of reservation, with proof of residency required for resident rates.
  • A facility kitchen does not by itself decide where an outside live cooking station may be placed, so confirm placement and vendor requirements on the Amenity Rentals page and the Hagen Park page before you lock in a date or a guest count.

Rental hours, fees and application thresholds change, so treat everything above as a starting point and verify it with the City. VNV Events does not apply for, obtain or guarantee permits or facility approvals. Permitting and approvals are the responsibility of the host, the venue or your planner. We will give you the setup details you need to answer the City's or the venue's questions accurately.

Site logistics

What a live station needs from your Wilton Manors venue

A crepe station is cooking equipment standing in a guest-facing spot, so a short walkthrough answers most of it before anyone signs anything. On compact Island City lots and shared-parking blocks, the walkthrough matters more than usual.

Seven things to confirm

  • Covered cooking area. An indoor room, a covered pavilion or a tent. Uncovered placement is the most common reason a station has to move on the day.
  • Power and access. Identify the nearest usable power source and how far it sits from the station. We confirm the actual requirement with your venue instead of assuming what a circuit can carry.
  • Load-in path. Where the vehicle can stop on a narrow residential street or a shared lot near Wilton Drive, plus building access, elevators, stairs, gates and door widths between the vehicle and the station.
  • Guest flow. Place the queue so it does not cut across the bar, the dance floor or a main walkway. In a divided multi-purpose room, decide early which half carries the station.
  • Service window. The two hours of live preparation can run as a late dessert moment or as part of the meal. Pick one before the timeline is built, and check it against the hours on your facility rental.
  • Venue approval. Ask the City facility, condo association or HOA clubhouse what it requires from an outside caterer, including vendor approval and documentation.
  • Weather contingency. South Florida heat and afternoon rain both matter. Decide the indoor or covered fallback position in advance.
