Live pasta station catering for events in Plantation, Florida

Nothing arrives finished. Guests walk up, pick their own combination, and a chef plates it in front of them, which keeps the room moving during the flat stretch after the program. The published station starts at $19 per guest with a 25-guest minimum and includes three pasta varieties, three sauces, two proteins, fresh ingredients and finishing toppings, buffet setup and decoration, and two hours of live-chef service.

The station

Cooking in the room, not behind a service door

Because every plate is built to order, one station handles a mixed Plantation guest list at once: children who want something plain, guests who want a lighter bowl, and guests who want the full version. This page covers the Plantation-specific side of the setup; the complete service overview lives on the South Florida pasta station page.

Where it fits in Plantation

  • Clubhouse receptions, showers and milestone birthdays in Plantation's residential communities
  • Banquet-hall and community-center celebrations rented through the City
  • Corporate socials, client appreciation and staff events at Plantation offices and business parks
  • Weddings and rehearsal dinners where a single station has to feed a mixed-age room
  • Backyard gatherings with a covered area for the cooking equipment

Suitability depends on the venue, the power available and the approved setup area, all reviewed before the proposal is finalized. If you are coordinating for a client or a committee, the planner resources page covers how we work alongside outside planners.

Build the menu

Three choices shape the whole station

Selections are made conditionally against what is available for your date and confirmed in writing before the event.

Pasta selection

Choose three pasta varieties. Familiar shapes or filled pasta can be considered depending on the menu direction and what is available when you book.

Sauce selection

Choose three sauces and spread them out so the station reads differently from one end to the other, typically one lighter and one creamier direction if those options are available for your date.

Proteins and dietary needs

Two protein selections are included. Vegetarian, vegan and allergy-related requirements should be raised during selection so they can be reviewed and confirmed in the proposal.

Plantation planning

City review, facility rentals and the questions to settle first

In Plantation, the approvals and the room usually decide the date before the menu does. Two separate tracks matter for a live cooking station: the City's special-event review, and whatever your specific venue requires from an outside caterer. Use the points below as a starting checklist and verify current requirements directly with the City.

City of Plantation special-event review

  • The Administration Department coordinates Special Event requests, which require approval by City Administration and are reviewed case by case.
  • The City states that all applications must be received 5 business days in advance for processing. That is a stated minimum for processing, not a recommended planning window, so start earlier if a live cooking station is part of the plan.
  • Separate applications cover categories such as residential block or street parties, promotional events and Parks & Recreation special events within City parks, and the City notes its list is not all inclusive.
  • Confirm which category your event falls into before you set a date, since a station with onsite cooking is a detail the City may want described.

City facilities and park rentals

  • City facilities such as the Volunteer Park Banquet Hall, Central Park, the Jim Ward Community Center, the Plantation Community Center and Deicke Auditorium are rented through Parks & Recreation, on a track separate from special-event review.
  • The Parks & Recreation FAQ notes that serving alcohol requires a City waiver completed and notarized by the permit holder, with paperwork due at least 30 days before the event.
  • The same FAQ notes that service after 9:00 pm also requires a City of Plantation police officer hired at the renter's expense, and that the function would need to end by 11:00 pm to allow an hour of cleanup.
  • Those rules shape when the station can realistically run, so settle the end time before the timeline is built and before the two-hour service window is fixed.

VNV Events does not apply for, obtain or guarantee permits, approvals or waivers. Permitting and venue approvals are the responsibility of the host, the venue or your planner, and requirements change, so verify them for your specific date, location and event type with the City of Plantation. We will give you the setup details you need to answer the City's or the facility's questions accurately.

Where a tent or temporary cover is part of the plan for the cooking area, review it early alongside any separate requirements that apply to temporary structures. See tent and event rental options.

Site logistics

What a live station needs on site

These are the details that decide whether the station runs smoothly. Walk through them with your Plantation venue or facility contact early, then confirm them in the written proposal.

Covered service and cooking area

The cooking equipment and the serving line both need solid cover: an indoor room, a lanai, a covered terrace or a tent approved for that location. Open lawn with no cover is the most common reason a station has to be moved on the day.

Venue-approved safe power

Ask the venue what power is available at the exact station position and whether it may be used for catering equipment. The station's actual power requirements are stated in your proposal rather than assumed on site, and generators may trigger additional review at City facilities and parks.

Load-in path

Map the route from the unloading point to the station: gate widths, elevator access, stairs, curbs, grass runs and total distance. Restricted access and long carries change setup timing and should be flagged before the event date.

Guest queue and flow

Leave room for guests to line up without blocking the bar, walkways, restrooms or the dance floor. For larger counts, plan the approach from one side and the exit from the other so the line keeps moving while plates are finished.

Service timing

The package includes two hours of live-chef service. Fix the start against the run of show so the station is not opened during toasts or a program block, and against any facility end time, then confirm any change to that window in writing.

Venue approval

Some venues and City facilities restrict onsite cooking, open flame, equipment placement or vendor load-in hours, and some require paperwork from an outside caterer. Get written confirmation that a live cooking station is permitted in the intended position.

Weather contingency

South Florida heat and afternoon storms are a planning input, not a surprise. Identify an indoor or covered alternate position for the station and agree in advance who makes the call and by what time.

Coordination

Share the floor plan, timeline and venue contact early so the station position, power and service window are settled before the final proposal. Contact the team with the details you already have.

Final selections, dietary accommodations, delivery, taxes, upgrades, availability, venue requirements and the total are confirmed in your written proposal.

The current published starting price is $19 per guest with a 25-guest minimum for the main station. Delivery, taxes, upgrades and the final total are confirmed in the written proposal, and current pricing is shown on the product page.

Do I need City of Plantation approval for a live cooking station?

It depends on the location and the event type. Special Event requests in Plantation are coordinated by the Administration Department, require approval by City Administration and are reviewed case by case, and the City states that all applications must be received 5 business days in advance for processing. Separate applications cover categories such as residential block or street parties, promotional events and Parks and Recreation special events within City parks, and the City notes its list is not all inclusive. VNV Events does not apply for, obtain or guarantee permits, approvals or waivers; the host, venue or planner must confirm current requirements directly with the City of Plantation.

Can the pasta station be set up at a City of Plantation facility such as the Volunteer Park Banquet Hall?

City facilities such as the Volunteer Park Banquet Hall, Central Park, the Jim Ward Community Center, the Plantation Community Center and Deicke Auditorium are rented through Parks and Recreation on a track separate from special-event review. Confirm with Parks and Recreation what your specific rental allows for an outside caterer and for live cooking equipment before the station layout is finalized.

How do City facility end times affect the pasta station schedule?

The City of Plantation Parks and Recreation FAQ notes that serving alcohol requires a City waiver completed and notarized by the permit holder, with paperwork due at least 30 days before the event, that service after 9:00 pm also requires a City of Plantation police officer hired at the renter's expense, and that the function would need to end by 11:00 pm to allow an hour of cleanup. Those rules shape when the two included hours of live-chef service can realistically run, so settle the end time with the facility before the timeline is built.

What does the pasta station need on site?

Plan for a covered cooking and service area, a safe power source approved by the venue, a clear load-in path to the station position, room for a guest queue that does not block circulation, an agreed service window for the included two hours of live-chef service, and a weather contingency. Exact venue requirements are confirmed in the written proposal.
