Fit depends on the venue, the power available at the station position and the approved setup area, all of which are reviewed before the proposal is finalized. If you are coordinating for a client or a committee, the planner resources page covers how we work alongside outside planners.

Build the menu

Three choices shape the whole station

Selections are made conditionally against what is available for your date and confirmed in writing before the event.

Pasta selection

Choose three pasta varieties. Familiar shapes or filled pasta can be considered depending on the menu direction and what is available when you book.

Sauce selection

Choose three sauces and balance them so the station reads differently from one end to the other, typically one lighter and one creamier direction if those options are available for your date.

Proteins and dietary needs

Two protein selections are included. Vegetarian, vegan and allergy-related requirements should be raised during selection so they can be reviewed and confirmed in the proposal.

Pompano Beach planning

Permits, City property and the cooking question to settle first

In Pompano Beach the deciding factor for a live pasta station is rarely the menu. It is whether the property allows cooking on site, and which application the venue runs under. Settle that before you hold a date, and verify current requirements directly with the City for your specific event.

Special events on private property

  • Section 132.27 of the City of Pompano Beach Code of Ordinances requires a permit issued by the City Manager before a special event is held on private property in the city.
  • The code defines a special event as a temporary meeting, activity or gathering that does not exceed 96 hours and meets the criteria set out in the section.
  • The applicant files the application with the City Manager, and the code sets out review standards and an appeal path.
  • Read the current text of Section 132.27 in the Pompano Beach Code of Ordinances and confirm your specific event with the City.

City parks, the beach and the pier

  • The City requires a public event application for festivals, gatherings and activities that use the beach, the pier or any City park.
  • Applications must be submitted no later than 25 days before the event date, and the City states that anything received later will be denied.
  • Park facility rental terms require that any sale of food or beverage be approved and noted on the application, and the City reserves the right to require a public event application at the renter's cost.
  • Start with the City's public event application page.

City cultural facilities: cooking is the sticking point

  • The City's cultural facility rental application states that all food must come prepared and that on-site cooking is prohibited.
  • A pasta station finishes each plate in front of guests, so a facility under those terms is not a fit unless the City confirms otherwise in writing for your event.
  • The same application notes that submissions made less than 60 days before the event date may not be considered, and that an application does not reserve or guarantee a date.
  • Review the City cultural facility rental application before you shortlist a City room.

Insurance, hours and approvals

  • Under Section 98.071, users of a City park recreational facility must furnish general liability insurance naming the City of Pompano Beach as an additional insured, provided to the City Risk Manager at least ten calendar days before the event.
  • The City states that rental hours run from 8am to 11pm and that reservations must include your setup and cleanup time, which matters because a live station loads in and sets up before service starts.
  • Alcohol is not permitted in City facilities, so plan the station's place in the timeline accordingly.
  • Details are in the City facility rental FAQ and in Section 98.071 of the Code of Ordinances.

VNV Events does not apply for, obtain or guarantee permits, applications, venue approvals or insurance approvals. Permitting and venue approvals are the responsibility of the host, the venue or your planner, and City requirements can change, so verify them for your specific date, location and event type with the City of Pompano Beach. We will give you the setup details you need to answer the City's or the venue's questions accurately.

Where a tent or temporary cover is part of the plan, raise it early alongside any separate approvals the location may require. See tent and event rental options.

Site logistics

What a live station needs on site

These details decide whether the station runs smoothly on the day. Review them with your Pompano Beach venue early, then confirm them in the written proposal.

Covered cooking and service area

Live cooking needs solid cover over both the chef and the buffet line, whether that is a roof, a lanai, a covered terrace, a pavilion or a tent approved for the location. Open turf or an exposed beachfront spot is the most common reason a station has to be repositioned once the truck arrives.

Venue-approved power

Confirm with the venue what power exists at the intended station position and whether it may be used for catering equipment. The station's actual power requirements are stated in the proposal rather than assumed on site, and generators or temporary electrical use may trigger additional review at City locations.

Load-in path

Map the route from the unloading point to the station: gate widths, elevator access, stairs, curbs, sand or grass runs, and total distance. Waterfront and clubhouse properties in Pompano Beach often have a long or restricted approach, which affects setup timing and should be flagged before the event date.

Guest queue and flow

Leave room for guests to line up without blocking the bar, walkways, restrooms or the dance floor. For larger counts, plan the approach from one side and the exit from the other so the line keeps moving while plates are being finished.

Service window

The package includes two hours of live-chef service. Fix the start time against the run of show so the station does not open during toasts or a program block, and remember that City facility reservations must also cover setup and cleanup time. Confirm any change to the window in writing.

Venue approval for on-site cooking

Some Pompano Beach venues, including City cultural facilities, restrict or prohibit on-site cooking, open flame, equipment placement or vendor load-in hours. Get written confirmation from the venue that a live cooking station is permitted in the intended position before the date is held.

Weather contingency

Coastal wind, summer heat and afternoon storms are planning inputs here, not surprises. Identify an indoor or covered alternate position for the station, and agree in advance who makes the call to move it and by what time.

Coordination

Share the floor plan, timeline and venue contact early so the station position, power and service window are settled before the final proposal. Contact the team with whatever details you already have.

Questions

Before you reserve

What is included in the pasta station for a Pompano Beach event?

The published station includes a choice of three pasta varieties, three sauces and two proteins, plus fresh ingredients and finishing toppings, buffet setup and decoration, and two hours of live-chef service. Final selections are confirmed in the written proposal.

How much does a pasta station cost in Pompano Beach, FL?

The current published starting price is $19 per guest with a 25-guest minimum. Delivery, taxes, upgrades, availability and the final total are confirmed in the written proposal.

Do I need a permit for a live cooking station in Pompano Beach?

It depends on where the event is held. Section 132.27 of the Pompano Beach Code of Ordinances requires a permit issued by the City Manager before a special event is held on private property in the city, and events using the beach, the pier or any City park require a public event application submitted no later than 25 days before the event date. VNV Events does not apply for, obtain or guarantee permits or approvals; the host, venue or planner must confirm current requirements with the City of Pompano Beach.

Can the pasta station be set up at a City park, the beach or the pier in Pompano Beach?

The City requires a public event application for festivals, gatherings and activities that use the beach, the pier or any City park, and states that applications received fewer than 25 days before the event date will be denied. Park facility rental terms require that any sale of food or beverage be approved and noted on the application, and the City reserves the right to require a public event application at the renter's cost. Confirm what your specific reservation allows before the station layout is finalized.

Can a live pasta station be used inside a City cultural facility?

The City's cultural facility rental application states that all food must come prepared and that on-site cooking is prohibited. A pasta station cooks in front of guests, so a facility under those terms is not a fit unless the City confirms otherwise in writing for your event. The same application notes that submissions made less than 60 days before the event date may not be considered and that an application does not reserve or guarantee a date.

What insurance and rental-hour rules apply at City facilities?

Under Section 98.071, users of a City park recreational facility must furnish general liability insurance naming the City of Pompano Beach as an additional insured, provided to the City Risk Manager at least ten calendar days before the event. The City states that rental hours run from 8am to 11pm and that reservations must include setup and cleanup time, which matters because a live station loads in before service begins. Alcohol is not permitted in City facilities.

What does the pasta station need on site?

Plan for a covered cooking and service area, a safe venue-approved power source at the station position, a clear load-in path, room for the guest queue, an agreed window for the included two hours of live-chef service, written venue approval for on-site cooking and a weather contingency. Exact venue requirements are confirmed in the written proposal.

Can vegetarian, vegan or allergy needs be accommodated?

Dietary directions should be raised while selections are being made. Vegetarian, vegan and allergy-related accommodations are reviewed case by case and confirmed in the written proposal along with the final pasta, sauce and protein choices.
